It's basically a system-wide audio enhancement app that can be toggled on or off at any time using ⌘ + ⌥ + B (command + option + B). This is one of those apps that will have you staring at your MacBook in disbelief. The customization is truly limitless with BTT. I mainly use BTT for the Touch Bar but it also allows you to customize your trackpad, for example you can set it up so if you Force Touch the bottom left corner your screensaver turns on etc.
I borrowed my girlfriend's MBP the other day and literally stared at the Touch Bar for 5 full seconds wondering what the hell was going on ? (she has the standard Touch Bar). You can also disable BetterTouchTool for specific applications. Holding the ⌥ (option) key gives me instant access to shortcuts for window snapping, holding down the ⌘ (command) key shows my Dock, and if I hold down ⌃ + ⌥ ( control + option ) at the same time I get the default Mac Touch Bar in case I ever need it. I have mine set up so that dragging two fingers on the Touch Bar turns the volume up&down, three fingers changes the brightness and four fingers changes the keyboard brightness. Life changer ! How Apple should have made the Touch Bar in the first place. BetterTouchTool ( with the Golden Chaos preset ).This is overall a very powerful tool to have on any Mac. I mean, just look at the script commands you can add to your workflow ! I also love how modern it looks & feels. I downloaded it, and two hours later Alfred was uninstalled.
It's definitely one of the first things you need to install on any Mac.Īn amazing alternative to Alfred that someone mentioned in the comments. I don't think Alfred needs an introduction. Here's a list of the apps I use and changes I've made to mine : APPS I've had my MacBook Pro (M1, 2020) for about 2 months now after upgrading from a 2013 MacBook Air.
This post is for anyone who, like me, loves tweaking their devices and making them better.
